Albatron's ViiV "Nano PC" May 09, 2006
Albatron's "Nano PC" fits an Intel 945GT+ICH7 chipset motherboard and Core Solo or Duo processor into an appealing 224 x 160 x 50 mm enclosure. Essentially the same raw technology inside as Apple's Intel Mac Mini, with a ViiV sticker on it. We took a quick look at an early prototype a few weeks ago and took some photos.
DDR-II SODIMMs provide up to 4GB of memory running at 533 or 667 MHz. 8 channel 7.1 AC97 Audio is supported courtesy of Realtek. Gigabit Ethernet comes courtesy of Intel. An optional 'Albalink' Wireless kit is planned.

We spotted what looked like an IR receiver on the front panel, below the optical drive slot. The back panel connectors on the Nano PC were: DVI out; Gigabit Ethernet; Firewire; 6 x USB 2.0; 6 x 3.5mm audio jacks; 2 x TOSLINK optical digital audio sockets. Our suspicions were raised that this might be a non-functional prototype when we couldn't find a DC input socket anywhere. When they get it working we'll be interested to see how it performs.
