Posted on October 3, 2002
Introduction
Morex Information Ent., Co., Ltd, based in
Taipei, Taiwan have been manufacturing and marketing PC cases
since 1986. The Cubid 2688R "Super Mini Case"
is one of 3 in the Cubid range, the 2677, 2677R (includes
a PCI riser and PCI slot in case) and this case, the 2688R
(PCI riser card, compact flash ready and additional USB ports
at the front).
This review only outlines the differences
between the 2677R and the 2688R, and is intended to be read
in conjunction with our earlier Cubid
2677R review.

First Impressions
Like the 2677, the Cubid 2688R measures
(WxHxD): 11.50"(295mm) x
2.50"(63.5mm) x 10.75"(273mm).
It weighs approximately 3.3Kg,
including the packaging.
Immediately noticeable are the 2 additional
USB ports on the front of the case. They don't really glow
like that, but the flash on our camera does.
The second unexpected bonus is a mysterious
plastic cutout on the left of the case. Is it a slimline floppy
bay?... it turns out to be space for a compact flash reader,
available as an option from Morex. There are also a rather
natty looking grill at the bottom, for grating small pieces
of cheese. Morex have thought of everything with this case!
